The Democratic Society East Foundation (DSE) is a public service organization established in 2002. The Foundation’s mission is the development of civic society in Poland and countries of Central and Eastern Europe.

Major goals of the Foundation:
- activities for the development of democratic institutions, independent thought, the protection of human rights and independent social movements as well as local communities;
- supporting socially marginalized groups and communities;
- developing educational, cultural, political, and social contacts with countries undergoing systemic transformation;
- disseminating information about these countries in Poland and abroad.

The above goals are to be achieved through activities conducted within the framework of the Foundation’s main programs as well as the network of contacts with numerous institutions in Poland and across the world – particularly in countries of Central and Eastern Europe (including non-governmental organizations, local governmental entities, educational institutions, and the media).

Together with other non-governmental organizations working outside the borders of Poland, we established Grupa Zagranica.
